A leading Kacapi performer and teacher, Mr. Rukruk Rukmana was born in Bandung into a family of musicians. He studied the kacapi under many performers from an early age. His teachers have included Pak Soma Wijaya, Mang Emo and Pak Uking Sukri ... He was awarded the championship in the "Tembang Sunda Cianjuran" competition kacapi section in 1978, and was among the winners in the Group section in 1991. His crystalline tone, sophisticated and distinctive style have established a new high water mark for kacapi players. He has taken part in many tours in Europe, Japan and Asia. He has assisted LIMA'S to verify song descriptions and has been videotaping playing and teaching kacapi Indung. |

Known primarily as a vocal teacher, Mr. Sutarman D. was born in Banjaran into a family of musicians. From an early age he studied under many performers. These indeed: Emeh Salamah, Ibu Tjitjah Apung, Ebar Sobari, Ida Achman, and Bakang Abubakar. He is one of the official Kacapi players for the National Tembang Sunda Vocal Competition (DAMAS). He helped to verify the descriptions of the songs and has been videotaping playing Kacapi Indung. |

Born in Cikembulan (Pangandaran), Mr. Sahrodin is a true lover of Sundanese culture. He is also a Kacapi player in kawih and pop Sunda styles and a gamelan Degung player. He is among LIMAS's gamelan consultants and teachers. Each day his schedule includes a broadcast of a live Sundanese program on local radio. He has assisted LIMA'S in extracting lyrics from CDs and cassettes and has been videotaping playing Kacapi Kawih. |

Andrew Timar born in Szombathely (Hungary), is a Canadian composer, gamelan musician, teacher, Suling player and arts administrator. He was invited to join Canada's first gamelan, Evergreen Club Contemporary Gamelan (degung) in 1983, and has been its Suling player for 25 years. He served as the group's Artistic Director from 1989 to 1992. Initially self-taught in Suling, he went on to study degung, tembang sunda, Suling and Kacapi with Burhan Sukarma, Suling with Endang Sukandar and Rebab with Entis Sutisna, among others. He has also studied karawitan jawa with leading musicians. Andrew has toured across Canada, USA, Europe, Indonesia and Japan. Andrew is also active as a researcher, performer, teacher and composer of karawitan jawa, plus South Asian and Western classical music. LIMAS is thankfull for his help for the correction of the english release of this website. |
